“Ay, Carnell,” I called out to my older brother, “close your mouth. I think I see a lil’ drool.”
He quickly wiped his mouth and turned to look at me. A slight grimace appeared on his face, once learning that I was being sarcastic. I sighed, boys can be so dumb.
Izzy walked into the gym and took a seat next to me on the bleachers. Carnell had only known this girl for one day and he was already mumbling her name in his dreams.
I shook my head as Carnell stuttered as he said hello to Izzy.
“Hey.”
“Oh, hi, um…” she spoke softly.
“Sierra.”
She smiled and turned her attention to the basketball that was being played. It was the freshmen against the seniors. I know I’m only a sophomore and upper classmen still think we don’t know anything, but I know that it is really nasty for you to walk around with bad hygiene early in the morning. What possesses these boys to play a game of basketball as soon as they get to school? Don’t they want to eat breakfast, finish homework, or just chill?
I rolled my eyes as senior, Lonnie dunked on one of the freshmen. A bunch of ooo’s and ah’s filled the gym.
A slight giggle escaped Izzy’s lips and Carnell’s eyes went immediately to her.
Before Carnell could get really googly eyed the bell rang. I smiled and threw my purse over my shoulder and walked gracefully in my Chuck Taylors.
“Baby,” someone whispered in my ear.
Someone’s arm wrapped around my waist and I immediately turned to see Payton.
“Uh, hey,” I stumbled, looking for the right words to say.
“You still going to the game Friday?” he asked.
“I don’t know, depends if my mom is on bitch mode or not. You know how she is.”
He nodded his head and kept quiet. I patted his curly head of hair, good boy.
I laughed to myself.
“What’s funny?” he wondered.
“Nothing,” I replied.
“Weird,” he dragged the‘d’ long.
“I know and that’s what you love about me,” I said about to kiss him.
But, before I could my oldest brother, Patrick was pushing up on me.
“Uh uh! Not in front of me you won’t.”
I rolled my eyes.
“I’ll talk to you later, Payton.”
“Love you,” he spoke.
I grinned and walked to the third floor, which was where my locker was.
I know it's short, but I tried. If you go to the end of pg. 65, you'll know why. What do you think will happen between Carnell and Izzy? Will Sierra's mom let her go to the football team with Payton? Don't forget to predict, comment, and bump.
